Leadership Styles and Generational Differences in Manufacturing and Service Organizations

Abstract Background and purpose The of this study was to examine generational differences leadership style preferences in service manufacturing organizations south-eastern (SE) Slovenia. focus on preferred approaches differences. Methods Quantitative research conducted using the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ) collect data a sample 208 employees SE questionnaire distributed online responses were analysed Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, Shapiro-Wilk Kruskal Wallis test. Results results showed that transformational most by respondents, followed transactional least laissez-faire style. A significant difference found preference for style, with Baby Boomers showing highest Generation Z lowest. Conclusion Although limited Slovenia generalizability is limited, suggest should provide training adapted promote effective leadership. Future consider longitudinal sector-specific studies, as well inclusion variables such cultural background organizational culture.
